Many people around the world remember their beloved deceased today, as I do. This year is special for me.
First, I remember Professor Randal C. "Randy" Picker for his great and honest path in academia.
Next, I thank Professor Koichi Furukawa at Keio University for his support and understanding during my grad school days. On Day One of his master's class, he wrote a program code developed at MIT and described its performance results. I raised my hand and politely pointed out that there was a better answer than what the code generated for the logistics scheduling problem. He asked me to explain how to do it, and I wrote it on the whiteboard. He verified it and said, "It is indeed." He then continued, "I will give you the highest grade for this semester. So you don't need to show up. Rather, you can do whatever you would like to do for the entire semester." I have never seen any person like him in my life in Japan.
Finally, I am really sorry for not remembering TLB for a long time. It is he who really realized and grasped what I am suffering from in my life. I wish and believe that Merciful God will surely ease his wounds and embrace his soul in His bosom in heaven eternally. I really thank Him and love them all on this day. I'm just listening to Ave Maria by Kings Return and praying for them.
