A few days ago, I posted about an online auction item with significant misreadings of the pre-modern Japanese script written on it—specifically, Kanji characters in the cursive style known as 'Kuzushiji.'

The item is just in front of me now. (Let's shout, "What?!")

Honestly, I hit the jackpot. The materials making up the scroll are beautifully crafted: the silk is excellent, the lacquer is marvelous, and the paper dates back to the late Edo era at least.

Furthermore, the calligraphic style is authentic to a Zen monk who is highly regarded in the Japanese tea ceremony tradition.

How much did I pay for it? Well, that is the last question a true gentleman or lady would ask.
