I traveled back home from the western Japan.
This Tuesday I walked out in the early morning and found a memorial plate near a hotel. It was built to honor a statesman who fought for democracy and freedom before the second world war.
He is a friend of my paternal great-grandfather at Keio University. They learned together under Yukichi FUKUZAWA, the founder of the University.
Coming back home, I began to search for his history. I found that he was a christian and belonged to the Church of England. Many students were baptized by a professor of English literature at the University in the time.
There isn't a document on my great-grandfather's religion, however I guess that he was baptized by the same professor who belonged to a Canadian missionary. I finally understood why he had educated children in missionary schools.
